Rooms and sub-locations
Kinoko allows you to map out your sub-farm(s) by creating locations within the sub-farm. There are 4 types of locations in Kinoko:
- Room
- Rack
- Shelf
- Slot
Each location relates to one of the 5 mushroom growing process steps: pasteurization, inoculation, cultivation, grow, or storage.
You should create at least one room for each of the mushroom growing process steps.
Locations allow you to track and view the history of metrics such as temperature, CO2 levels, and humidity for each room via location inspections, and also view which blocks and trays are located within those locations.
As you use Kinoko to track your farm operations, you will be transfering blocks and trays between your various locations. This means you will want to be specific enough with the locations you create to generate usable data but not so specific that you increase the workload of your workers unnecessarily. For example, if you create a location for every single shelf on every rack in your farm, when moving blocks you will need to scan a block onto shelves. If you track just to the rack level, you can transfer multiple blocks at once to the same rack. However, by doing this you are potentially missing out on valuable information because you will not be able to tell if different shelves produce different yields or have an overall effect on your harvest. The appropriate level of specificity is a personal decision that depends on your farm, how you like to work, and how granular you want the data collected by Kinoko to be. We have carefully designed the workflow to maximize flexibilty and allow each farm to tailor their locations to their specific needs.
